New Delhi: Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, has expressed deep sorrow over the bloody shootout which left around 20 schoolchildren dead in New Town of Connecticut in the United States. In his letter to US President Barack Hussain Obama on Monday, Maulana Umri offered condolences and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.

“The gruesome killing of 18-20 children in the bloody shootout at a primary school in New Town of Connecticut has sent shockwaves across the globe. The barbarous act is rightly being condemned and sympathy shown with the bereaved families by the world community including the Secretary General of United Nations,” Ameer Jamaat said and as leader of the largest Indian Muslim organization offered his condolences over the killings and expressed sympathy with the families. He also prayed for patience to the affected families so that they could overcome this tragedy.
“As head of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, a renowned organization of Indian Muslims, I, on behalf of members of Jamaat, Indian Muslims and Indian people, offer my condolences and deep sympathy with the parents of the deceased children, their relatives, people of America and as head of the nation with you. I pray to Almighty Allah to grant patience to the parents and relatives of the innocent children who were killed mercilessly, so that they could overcome this great tragedy,” Maulana Umri said.

While supporting US Congressmen’s demand for restrictions on the use of firearms by civilians, Ameer Jamaat urged the people of America to also raise their voice against the deadly weapons which are causing destruction of human lives at large scale in different parts of the world.

“People’s representatives in the Congress are rightly demanding restrictions on arms…I hope the people of America will not limit their demand for restrictions to just light weapons being used by common people but will also raise voice against the deadly weapons which are causing destructions at large scale in different parts of the world,” Ameer Jamaat made the demand in his letter to Obama on 17th Dec. 2012.
