New Delhi, 25 Oct 2014: Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, Amir (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed deep sorrow at the sad demise of Prof. Ghulam Azam, world-renowned respected personality of Islamic movement and former Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat Islami, in the judicial custody of Bangladesh government of Sheikh Hasina Wajid. Maulana Omari said the 94-year-old Islamic leader will be remembered for his clean and bright character and great services. The history will not forget the injustice and violation of human rights done with him by the government and judiciary of his country.

Amir-e Jamaat Maulana Omari said the Bangladesh government while executing the unholy designs of anti-Islam global forces imposed baseless charges on the 94-year-old Islamic leader Prof Azam, which has perhaps no parallel in history. The elderly personality was sentenced with 90 years in jail for the crimes he had not committed and in fact a person with good character and Islamic thinking like him cannot even imagine to do.

It should be noted here that Prof Azam was falsely charged for unproved acts during the 1971 Bangladesh movement which he had not committed because he was not in the country during that chaotic period, and in fact he was out of the country for a long period of time.

Amir-e Jamaat Maulana Jalaluddin Omari further said Prof Azam rendered continuous services for Islam in East Pakistan and then in Bangladesh despite all trials and tribulations. He strived for strengthening the relations of Millat and its new generation with Islam on strong bases. His noble deeds have been preserved in golden letters in history. Insha Allah, he will get best rewards from Allah and those who persecuted him for raising the flag of Islam in his own country will not escape from the wrath of Allah.

Amir-e Jamaat-e-Islami Hind prayed for the maghfirat and highest places in Jannat for Prof Ghulam Azam and patience for his family members, friends and members of the Islamic movement.
