Amir-e Jamaat grieved at Afghan landslide deaths

New Delhi, 04 May 2014: Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, Amir (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed grief at the death of around 2500 people in the incident of hill landslide in Badakhshan province of Afghanistan. The disaster left hundreds others wounded and missing. Maulana Omari prayed to Almighty Allah for the deceased and expressed sympathy with the victim survivors.

Amir-e Jamaat said the sovereign nation of Afghanistan has been suffering with extraordinary destruction due to the brutalities of global imperialist forces for last 25 years. Now the great Friday tragedy in Badakhshan is a big trial for the people of Afghanistan. But we hope that true to their traditions they would seek help and patience from Allah and overcome the tragedy.

Maulana Omari said the relief and rehabilitation of the affected village in Badakhshan is the big need. We hope the world community and welfare organizations would extend their humanitarian assistance. Amir-e Jamaat expressed satisfaction that our Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed grief at the tragedy and offered help to the victims.
