New Delhi, September 30: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has strongly condemned criminalization of politics and involvement of tainted people in running the country, and termed the trend as devastating for the country and countrymen. Jamaat has expressed serious concerns at the ordinance brought by the central government to give protection to tainted politicians.

Mr. Nusrat Ali, General Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said: It is unfortunate that even 65 years after the Independence we as a nation could not produce people of high moral values to run the country and system of governance – the people who could be trusted by the masses and who are true well-wishers of the country. Contrary to that, our country is facing such a serious situation that not a single political party seems to be able to maintain its existence without support of corrupts and criminal people.

General Secretary of Jamaat further said that it may be the need or compulsion of political parties to remain close with tainted people — this is the reason why such tainted people are in so good numbers in many political parties, rather they are on responsible positions in their parties. This trend is dangerous not just for the political system of the country but is also against the larger interests of the society and country. It is the need of the hour, therefore, that political parties giving preference to real benefit of the country and countrymen, take some hard decisions at their levels that they could get rid of the filth and the country could get good people as legislators. For this purpose, the leaders of political parties with collective consultation can devise some guiding principles. It will be nice that popular leaders of different religions and intellectuals offer advice to keep politics from criminalization and also strive for that.

While welcoming the decision of the Supreme Court, General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has described the ‘Right to Reject’ as the legal and moral right of voters. He said that it will increase the percentage of voting, rather voters of every constituency will have an opportunity to
express their true opinion and successful candidates and their parties will also have an idea of the negative voting of the people, which will help in moving towards constructive democracy.
