Jamaat-e-Islami Hind delegation visits subsidence-hit Joshimath in Uttarakhand to extend helping hand to affected people

Joshimath, Uttarakhand: A delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) led by its national Secretary Mr.Mohammad Ahmed has visited the subsidence-hit Joshimath in Uttarakhand for extending helping hand to the residents of Himaliyan town as they are living in panic after cracks appeared in their houses.

The JIH delegation, which included JIH assistant secretaries, Mr. Inamur Rahman and Mr. Mohammad Nayyar met with the affected people and extended all possible support to the Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti. The Samiti is working for the affected people. The delegation also paid a visit to Jyotirmath, one of the four key sacred Hindu places established by Adi Shankara, headed by “Shankaracharya”.

According to media reports, around 800 are living in camps and temporary relief centres while thousands of people have left the town after their homes developed widening cracks during the last few weeks. The number of buildings that have developed cracks has now risen to 826 out of which 165 are in the danger zone, according to a bulletin from the Disaster Management Authority.
