An Eid Get-Together program was organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, yesterday at the Indian Islamic Cultural Center, New Delhi. The Program began with the recitation of The Qur’an followed by the welcome speech of Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
In his speech, Ameer e Jamaat greeted the guests and extended a warm welcome to non-Muslim brothers and sisters who were attending the program. Ameer e Jamaat said that: “we must take note of the delicate situation in which our country is passing through. We are all witnessing that there is no peace in the country. Various sections of society are feeling insecure especially the minorities and the weaker sections are increasingly becoming the target of violence. On a various small pretext, people are killed and it seems that rule of law is vanishing away especially in the north Indian states. The criminal elements are seen killing peoples and they have no fear of law in their heart. This situation is alarming although there it is a good sign that there have been recently some very strong protests against such negative tendencies. These protests show that humanity is still alive and this is a good sign for our country. We pray that this trend will continue and ultimately this may win over those kinds of evil elements which are trying to destroy peace and harmony of our country. We pray that present situation may end and peace and rule of law may be restored in our country.
The program was followed by the speeches of guests and scholars of different religions especially Swami Agniwesh (Arya Samaj), Goswami Sushilji Maharaj (Hindu Religion), Dr. A.K. Merchant (Bahai Religion), Dr. M.D. Thomas (Christianity, Director, Institute of Peace & Harmony), B.K. Raghunandan (BrahmaKumari’s), Swami Manoharpuri Maharaj (Harisiddhi Math), Br. Harmindar Singh (Sikh Religion).
The program concluded with the Thanksgiving speech of Dr. Mohammad Salim Engineer, (Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind) and was followed by dinner.
