Jalgaon, 25 Feb 2014: The Ideal Relief Wing of Maharashtra zone of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind organized a Disaster Management Training Camp at Millat School Ground, Mehrun in Jalgaon district on 15 & 16 Feb. 2014.

The camp started with recitation of Quran by Mushtaq Ahmad (President, JIH-Jalgaon). Mazhar Farooque (Asst. Secretary – Social Service Dept. JIH, Maharashtra) gave the introduction of IRW & its aims and objectives.

In his speech he stated that for last many years such camps are being organized all over Maharashtra to train cadre for Natural Calamity, Flood, Fire and accidents. He also said that cadre of IRW helped people during flood in Mumbai on July 2005. IRW team helped people and Govt. authorities in relief work. After the October 2005 Jammu & Kashmir earthquake, a team from IRW Maharashtra was immediately sent to the affected areas. The team did a tremendous work in Jammu. IRW helped the people as fire erupted in areas of Aurangabad, and Bandra in Mumbai and also during flood in Amravati district where the IRW cadre saved lives of four non-Muslim brothers and did a good work on relief. All this work was carried by IRW under Ideal Relief Committee Trust irrespective of religion, cast, creed and community.

Mr. Shaikh Mateen (Secretary JIH Maharashtra) gave a presidential speech wherein he said that IRW has come up with a vision to save humanity. This important task is the one done by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which is mentioned in Quran and Hadith.

Dr. Vijay Chaudhary, (Sr. Surgeon) Secretary Red Cross Society, Jalgaon gave lecture on First Aid and Animal Poisons & demonstrated how to prevent it and how to save the victims.

S P Athavle (Dist. Organizer Scout & Guide Jalgaon) demonstrated how to do rescue work during and after earthquake, floods, fire etc. with the rope, stick, handkerchief, scarf and other rescue materials available at the site of disaster and their best use. Mr. More (In-charge Fire Brigade, Jalgaon) joined us with his team and demonstrated firefighting equipment, extinguisher and their use and how to do rescue work in times of emergency.

Mr. Javed Athar (Teacher of Madni School, Mumbai) a Black Belt in Kung fu & Martial Art expert, talked about how to defend oneself without harming others in emergency time.
