JIH Maharashtra kicks off political awareness campaign

February 27, 2014

Nagpur, 26 Feb 2014: “The democracy in our country is passing through a difficult phase. It has been hijacked. The country has been divided into Bharat and India resulting in wide gap between the rich and the poor,” said Mohammad Salim Engineer, National Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

He was addressing the Vidharba region conference of Jamaat-e-Islami Maharashtra here at Markaz-e Islami. The conference was part of Jamaat’s state-wide campaign entitled Desh Ka Vikas — Nyay Aur Sadbhavana Ke Saath (Progress of the Country with justice and amity)

Presiding over the program, Er Salim said: “We want to create awareness among the countrymen for the development of the country. The country has been divided into Bharat and India resulting in wide gap between the rich and the poor. The poor are unable to meet the basic needs. The high-rise buildings of the rich and their life style are ridiculing the poor. Corruption, communalism and immorality are growing. If we remain silent in this situation, it will be a crime. There should be a value based politics that could ensure justice, respect and protection of rights.”

Talking about growing crimes against women, he said: Rapists should be punished in public places.

He also said that the economic system should be interest free. With the rise in relation with Israel, terror incidents have grown in India, he said.

Addressing the gathering, national president of Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh and former Member of Parliament Mr. Prakash Ambedkar said: Secularism is the base of our country. The country should be saved from dictatorship and true democracy should be established.”

JIH Maharashtra president Taufique Aslam Khan said India is rising but in higher education only one section of the society is going up; the middle and poor classes are behind in getting higher education. He also said that the system established by Prophet Muhammad in Arab was peaceful and free from crimes.

Maharashtra president of Welfare Party Mr. Abdur Rauoof also addressed the gathering.

Jamaat should forward all its political agenda to Welfare Party and cooperate with them, otherwise it become duplication of work

      Dear Brother Faseeh Akram,

I totally agree and share your thoughts. Jamaat has to allow taking political mileage wherever feasible instead they have to focus on core ideological issues and strengthen and invest in building cadre on many challenging fronts.
