Interfaith forum in Assam to strengthen mutual relations among ethnic, tribal groups

Interfaith meeting held in Guwahati.


Guwahati, 18th Feb.2021: ‘Sadbhavana Mancha of Assam has organised an interfaith meeting in Guwahati, aiming to strengthen mutual bond, trust, and harmony among various ethnic and tribal groups of the state.  The meeting was attended by a large number of religious leaders belonging to Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain, Brahma and other communities.


Delivering his keynote address, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Vice President Prof. Mohammad Salim Engineer shed lights on the purpose of the meeting. Emphasising on the need to unite all religious and ethnic groups, he said that religious leaders should play a key role in this regard in the present volatile atmosphere. He said that the reason behind intolerance among communities was lack of awareness about one another. “So, there is a need to know each other to combat hatred. It is important to note that adhering to one’s own religion does not mean that one is jealous of another’s religion,” he added. The JIH leader urged all religious leaders to come forward and unite to save our constitution and the country from the rising threat of fascism.


Speakers in the meeting unanimously resolved to work for fostering love, faith, unity and harmony among different races, religions and communities. The concluding speech was delivered by JIH Secretary  Mr.Mohammad Shafi Madni. Notable leaders like Sri Nepal Chakrawarti, Purohit, Mandir Bamuni Moidam, Sikh guru L.P. Singh ji, Dr.Mahendra KourJi, Dr.Sonali Baruah Hazarika, Barhamkumari Mousumi Behenji, Amarendra Brahma President of Sodu Assam Brahmadharmio committee, JIH secretary Mr. Malik Mohtasim Khan and also attended the meeting.
