Jamaat condoles Jhabua blast deaths, demands high-level probe

New Delhi, 17 Sep 2015: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed deep sorrow over deaths in the blasts in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh and offered condolences to the families of victims. Around 90 people were killed and over 50 wounded in the deadly blasts on Saturday (12th Sep). While demanding a high-level probe under the supervision of the state High Court, Jamaat has urged the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government to award at least Rs 10 lakh to kin of each deceased and offer free treatment to the injured.

Reports said a cylinder exploded at a tea stall leading to explosion in an adjacent three-story building with huge amount of explosive materials inside near the crowded bus stand in Petlawad town. The blast was so powerful that the entire building came down crashing resulting in the death of 89 people.

“It was a tragic incident. We condole the deaths and stand in solidarity with the victim families. The culprits must be brought to book. Some media reports said the main accused has association with the ruling BJP. For a fair probe and punishment to the culprit, we demand a high-level investigation under the supervision of Madhya Pradesh High Court,” said Mohammad Salim Engineer, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

“Instead of setting up an SIT under the leadership of a police officer of Jhabua district, the government should order a high-level probe under the supervision of the High Court,” demanded the Jamaat leader.

Commenting on the compensation of Rs 5 lakh offered for each victim by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as very low, Mohammad Salim Engineer said that government should at least double it.
