New Delhi, 16 June 2022: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s (JIH) education board has decided to launch a nationwide tree-planting campaign during the monsoon season. The monsoon season has started in South India while the rainy season will soon begin in North India and other parts of the country. The campaign will be run in collaboration with students and parents. JIH is one of the biggest socio-religious organization of India Muslims.

In a statement, Chairman of the JIH Markazi Taleemi Board (Education Board), Mr. Mujtaba Farooq, has appealed to the educational institutions to run a tree-planting drive on a large scale in their area with the cooperation of the local Forest Department, parents, and students. He suggested that students could plant saplings in their homes and school administrators could plant trees on either side of the road or government vacant land as part of a campaign. “This process is an important part of the New Education Policy (NEP) namely the Sustainable development growth,” he added.

Expressing concern over the worrying situation of the environment protection in India, the JIH education board chairman informed that during the campaign, efforts would be made to create awareness about the environmental protection and conservation of natural resources.

Stressing on the urgent need to encourage the prudent use of water, and electricity, and avoid the use of polythene bags, Mr. Farooq asked the schools and institutions to seek the cooperation of concerned NGOs in the locality for the implementation of this campaign.
