JIH-welcomes-SC-order-rejecting-review-petition-on-homosexuality

New Delhi, 28 Jan 2014: Mr. Nusrat Ali, General Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed happiness over the Supreme Court order rejecting the review petition of the central government filed against the apex court order on homosexuality. Through the 11th Dec 2013 order, the apex court had upheld the constitutional validity of Section 377 of Indian Penal Code which holds homosexuality a criminal offense.

The rejection of the review petition is recognition of the upper hand of moral values, said Jamaat leader.

He expressed concern over the attitude of the government in this regard and wondered why the government is taking extraordinary interest in implementing unpleasant life style of the west in a religious country like India and thus maligning the character of the country.

Mr Nusrat Ali expressed hope that the central government will respect the order of the apex court and traditions of the country and keeping the real welfare of the humanity it would not file any other potion in the court, nor will formulate any law in favour of homosexuality.
