Media Workshop at Markaz

New Delhi: A two-day in house national workshop from 03-04 December 2008 was organised by the Media Department of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind to train its cadre that is working in state media departments and cells at Jamaat’s Headquarter in New Delhi.

It was the first time the media department of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind practically taught professionalism of media to its candidates working in the different zones across the country. In the inaugural session Mr Nusrat Ali, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind delivered his inaugural speech on ‘Our Expectations with Jamaat’s Media Depts’. And Mr Qasim Rasool Ilyas, the media incharge of Jamaat’s Media Department followed him and gave his talk on ‘Creating a Space in Mainstream Media – Need, Importance and Approach’.

In the Second session, Art of giving feedbacks to print and electronic media, writing press statements, addressing press conferences and etc were taught.  Besides these practical approach, lectures by Ajit Sahi, Editor-at-large weekly Tehelka, Seema Mustafa, Editor, Covert web magazine, Zia Haq, Asst. Editor Hindustan Times, Iftekhar Geelani, Bureau chief, Kashmir Times, Mohd Iqbal, spl correspondent of The Hindu from Rajasthan; which were on ‘Indian Media an Introduction’, ‘Corporate Media and its agenda’, ‘Muslim Images in Indian Media’, ‘Lobbies in Indian Media’, ‘Media Relations – A Practical Approach’ respectively were delivered excellently and praised by the participants.

Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari delivered concluding speech giving advice and counselled participants in the light of the Holy Quran. We are compiling Video CD of whole programme and it would be distributed soon.
