New Delhi, 28 April 2014: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed concern and displeasure at the fascist and communal forces making Muslims topic of negative statements during the on-going parliamentary elections, and demanded the Election Commission and the government to take strong legal actions against them.

Mr. Nusrat Ali, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, in a media statement, said the way communal elements and their representatives are criticising Muslims unpleasantly is contrary to the spirit of constitution and secular traditions of the country and is creating unwarranted hysteria in the election atmosphere of the country. This clearly shows this all is a part of their well thought-out plan to polarise voters on communal lines so that they could take political mileage by soiling the election atmosphere.

Mr. Nusrat Ali urged the people who want to protect the atmosphere of justice, brotherhood and secular traditions in the country to feel the gravity of the situation and weaken the forces who are against these values through the collective power of vote.

He specially asked Muslims to adopt a very serious and responsible approach during the on-going parliamentary election. He expressed hope that the community in order to protect its wider interests would not divide their votes and support the secular, humane candidates who are of good moral character to spoil the destructive aims of the communal forces.
