March 9, 2020

New Delhi, 09 March 2020: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s women department secretary, Atiya Siddiqua has said Shaheen Bagh has heralded change and created a new perception about women power. The women’s department of the JIH Delhi State in co-operation with JIH Women’s Wing organized a symposium on the topic – ‘Women’s struggle against the CAA-NRC-NPR’ here at the Press Club of India.

JIH Co-Secretary, Rahmathunnisa also addressed the symposium and said: “We believe in justice, equality and fraternity and hence our struggle against the CAA is against injustice. India’s economy is sinking and the government must focus on the challenges confronting the nation and not on taking away the citizenship of its own citizens.” The central theme of the symposium was to appreciate the manner in which women have recently come out in large numbers to defend civil liberties, democracy and freedom in the country. The entire world is appreciating the courage and resilience of the women-protestors who have become an inspiration and a rallying point for the fight against discrimination and injustice. They have stood up to the excesses perpetrated on innocent citizens and articulated their point of view most eloquently.

The others who spoke on the occasion include Ms. Sucharita (Lok Raj Sangathan), Ms. Pushpanjali,(Delhi University) and Shaista Rafat of Delhi Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. Fatima Tanveer of JIH-Delhi conducted the proceedings. Mh. Nuzhat Yasmeen, Delhi State Secretary, Women’s Dept. concluded the program with vote of thanks.
