Ameer-e-Jamaat expresses grave concern at sex crimes against women

New Delhi: Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri has expressed grave concern at sexual atrocities against women in different parts of the country particularly the national capital of Delhi. He also strongly condemned these incidents.

In a media statement on Thursday, Ameer-e-Jamaat mentioned the 15th December incident in which a 23-year-old woman was gang-raped by five persons and after brutally beaten was thrown out of the running bus. It is highly concerning and condemnable act wherever it takes place, but occurrence of the heinous incident in the national capital is a shameful mater for the government, said Ameer-e-Jamaat adding that such incidents are happening more in Delhi than other cities, which is really a matter of great concern. Delhi is the centre of the union government. Delhi also has a state government whose police is under the control of the central government. Besides, secret and intelligence agencies have their networks here. Despite all, if sex crimes are being committed at regular interval here it is very surprising. Various countries have their embassies in Delhi through which the news of such incidents spreads across the globe in no time and ultimately brings disrepute to the country.

Ameer-e-Jamaat demanded the central and state government to take effective steps to check such crimes and punish the culprits. He expressed satisfaction that the incidents of Delhi have made the countrymen aware and active and protest demonstrations are being held at different places. He appealed to government and non-government organizations to launch mass awareness campaigns for rights and dignity of women in the society and for the protection of their modesty and life.
