Jamaat organizes Symposium on Female Foeticide

June 13, 2009

“The act of female-foeticide is inhuman, immoral and shameless. The situation has become grave concern not only in India but in neighbouring countries like China and other countries too. It is too sad that as much as the man is progressing in the field science, he is morally degrading.  If this offence will not be controlled swiftly, than anarchy will wrap the whole society and it would become serous threat to humanity,” Said  Mr. Nusrat Ali, Secretary General of JIH while presiding over a symposium organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) in Hindi Bhavan, Delhi on ‘Female Foeticide – Causes and Solution’.

Swami Laxmi Shankaracharya (Kanpur) expressed serious concern over the rising trend of female foeticide in Indian society and showed fear of God the only effective cure to solve this offence, in a programme organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) in Hindi Bhavan, Delhi on ‘Female Foeticide – Causes and Solution’ today.

Swami said, “Islam is the only religion which has solution of all human problems and fear of God is the only way to prevent people from this offence. Fear of God is found to a great extent in Muslims that’s why such cases are occurred very low among them. He further said that human rights organizations spoke about the human rights of criminals but ignored the problems of human rights victims while Government cannot solve the problem. ‘It has only one solution ‘Creating fear of God among the people’, he added.

He said, “in spite of merely depending on governmental law we should ourselves stand against this crime. The basic reason of female-foeticide is increasing materialism and lack of fear of God. He urged the religious leaders to come forward to solve this issue and create fear of God and faith on accountability on the day of Judgement among the people.

On this occasion various social and religious leaders expressed their views on the topic. Lecturer of Delhi University, Ms. Vijaya Laxmi Nanda said that All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) had adopted a technique of foetus test in 1970s, required for medical sciences and it was used to diagnose disease but immediately after the test was used to identify baby during pregnancy for abortion. “It is surprising that this tendency is found more than others in elite and high educated people while fact shows that in spite of all backwardness Muslims are far-away from this crime. For preventing this offence a law was made in 1996 but only a sentence has been given in a case,” she added.

Sikh Religious leader Jogindar Singh, Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Amritsar, Maulana Ejaz Aslam, secretary JIH  also expressed on the occasion and called up for a united struggle against this offence. Organiser of the conference, Mr. Iqbal Mulla gave welcome speech and Mr. Zainul Abideen Mansuri did convenor-ship and Mr. Jaleel Azghar proposed vote of thanks.
